Role OverviewReporting to the CFO, this senior leadership role oversees the Firm’s Client Billing Services department, ensuring accurate matter setup, billing, collections, and compliance with financial and client standards. The role directs CBS operations, policies, and continuous process improvements, while maintaining strong relationships with partners, clients, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Lead CBS management in three areas:
Billing Compliance, Billing Operations, and Collections. - Ensure client/matter setups, billing, and collections comply with guidelines and are efficiently processed.
- Oversee analysis of cash flow, WIP, AR, bad debt, and client credit risk.
- Develop and maintain CBS policies, training programs, and internal controls.
- Act as mediator for client issues related to billing or legal services.
- Collaborate with CFO and senior leadership on strategic initiatives and system improvements.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, including credit assessment and collection agencies.
- Lead and motivate a team of 40+ staff across Canadian offices.
- University degree; 10+ years’ experience in billing and collections or equivalent.
- Deep knowledge of professional services billing and collection processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ADERANT, billing systems, and MS Excel.
- Analytical, organized, and capable of managing high-pressure, high-volume work.
- Direct reports: 4 managers;
Indirect: 40+ staff across Canadian offices - Responsible for maintaining compliance, operational excellence, and team development.
