We are currently searching for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our family at Toronto Community Housing. As a Supervisor, Field Security you will coordinate and supervise the day-to-day deployment of Special Constables in providing community patrol and response coverage to TCH communities, incorporating site and mobile patrol, dispatch Communications service and parking services in conjunction with outside agencies such as the police, fire and ambulance services
What you’ll do
Leading Staff/Managing Resources:
Provides supervision and assigns work to unionized staffLeads team to meet key performance indicators, service standards, unit wide outcomes, business processes and reporting requirements and with attention to de-escalation, tenant safety, and community well-being.Ensures team is compliant with documentation standards and confidentiality is maintained in accordance with applicable legislation, corporate policies and procedures, collective agreementCoaches and trains staff ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, including trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and bias-aware practices.Prepares information for performance reviewsAuthorizes and controls vacation and overtimeSupervises staff in all aspects of their duties including preparation of reports and correspondence.Leads, manages and motivates staff team to ensure effective teamwork, monitor work output, take a proactive approach to problem solving, resolve labour relations issues, ensures high standards of work quality and organizational performanceManages team resources ensuring effective and efficient use of resourcesEnters payroll, manage staff schedulesResponds to/assists with collective agreement grievances, as requiredIdentify safety and security risks and mitigation strategies, using incident trends, community context, and CSU data to support proactive responses.Administration:
Maintains memo book and records information in records management system in accordance with CSU proceduresPrepares court documentsReview and approves court/evidence related documents/reports of staffPrepare shift schedulesLiaise with Operating Managers on tenancy issues arising from resident conductAttends Landlord & Tenant Board hearings and court to present evidence
Partnerships:Establishes effective working relationships and partnerships with residents, other TCH staff, Toronto Police Service, Toronto Fire, EMS, community/social services, and othersAttend Toronto Police Service divisional and City of Toronto meetings (e.g., crime management, Community Police Liaison Committees)Attend integrated TCH team meetings and provide input to assist in addressing and resolving tenancy management issues.Attend resident/community meetings to address issues relating to community safetyNeighbourhood Safety
Provide on-site support during crisis and emergency situations, supporting coordinated, de-escalation-focused and tenant-centered responses.Coordinate and deploy staffAssist emergency services such as Fire, Police and EMSLiaise with Client Care Centre to ensure appropriate business unit response and notificationResponds to calls for serviceInteracts with contracted security guardsIssues Provincial Offences NoticesEnforces statutes, including making arrests, in accordance with the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Liquor License Act, Mental Health Act,…
