The Emergency Response Division, within the Ministry of Emergency Preparedness and Response (MEPR), is seeking a collaborative, experienced people leader with strong stakeholder-engagement skills, proven consensus-building capabilities, and demonstrated success guiding teams through strategic transformation.

Drawing on your experience in emergency management and response, you will leverage your expertise as a senior leader to drive results while empowering, supporting, and enabling your teams to excel.

About the job

As Director of the Ontario Corps Branch, you will lead the implementation of strategic direction and oversee the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the Ontario Corps program. You will work closely with a diverse network of stakeholders, partners, and volunteers to ensure Ontario Corps is always ready, capable, and prepared to assist when called upon during emergencies.

Based at MEPR Headquarters, located at 25 Morton Shulman Avenue, and serving as a member of the Division's executive leadership team, you will guide the continued expansion of Ontario Corps' capabilities. You will champion modernization, strengthen and grow volunteer and partner engagement, and operate in a high-profile, high-visibility environment where decisions have a direct and meaningful impact on the safety and wellbeing of Ontarians.

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister – Emergency Response Division, the Director, Ontario Corps will:
  • provide strategic leadership and direction for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Ontario Corps program
  • lead the program's governance model, policy framework, operational standards, and readiness systems
  • support marketing and brand development for the Ontario Corps program, ensuring core program elements are effectively integrated across ministry operations
  • champion modernization and drive innovative, creative approaches to transform voluntary emergency response programming and service delivery
  • build and maintain strong partnerships with sector leaders, non‑profit organizations, Indigenous communities, municipalities, private‑sector partners and stakeholders across Ontario
  • establish effective team structures, processes, and performance systems to deliver high‑impact, community‑focused initiatives, while ensuring strong collaboration across MEPR and the OPS
  • provide timely and effective briefings and strategic advice to the Minister, Deputy Minister, and Assistant Deputy Minister on program options, analysis, risks, and recommendations
  • foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, inclusion, equity, accessibility, excellence, and wellbeing among colleagues and staff
