Reporting to the Kitchen Operation Specialist and Store Manager (or his/her delegates), the Kitchen Department Head is responsible for delivering the department daily routine, controlling its profit and loss, providing guidance, supervision to Kitchen Department staff members and training to Kitchen Department service staff members.

T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 13 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.

Greet customers by providing good customer service with smile, and friendly enthusiasm

Manage department performance and attain departmental goals

Familiar with product ordering , its process and execution

Follow company’s pricing principle and work closely with the pricing strategies of the Merchandising Department

Manage and supervise daily department operations and staff performance

Provide coaching, on-the-job training, shadowing, guidance and supervision to department staff

Provide guidance and supervision to Kitchen Assistants, ensure fair distribution of work and that daily checklists are strictly executed

Promote teamwork and create an inclusive working environment

Lead by example by performing all hands on duties required in the Kitchen Department

Maximize customers’ satisfaction, build rapport with our customers by providing good smile, eye contact and attention to them; handle customers’ complaints, if any

Conduct quality and inventory control, responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene, equipment and tools maintenance follow up and workplace safety of the department

Manage product quality, food safety, freshness and ensure FIFO is strictly practiced within the department

Maintain and update UPC pricing, verify and ensure product labeling is properly done

Ensure (BBQ, Hot Foods, Dim Sum, Sushi and/or others) are properly packaged and displayed

Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays

Have a good understanding of tools & equipment relevant to the job and know how to interpret merchandise labels

Possess great interpersonal and customer service skills

Good people management skills and ability to train staff

Good organization and problem-solving skills

Possess knowledge of workplace health & safety

Relevant experience and knowledge of Kitchen products, display, promotion and packaging techniques preferred

Possess 5 years and/or above relevant experience, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience preferred

Possess good computer skills in MS Office
