The Group Account Director of Media Planning is a senior leader responsible for the strategic direction, financial health, and operational excellence of a dedicated client group. You are the ultimate custodian of the client relationship and internal team, ensuring our media solutions are not just innovative, but rooted in rigorous planning and measurable business growth.
Transparency matters to us. For this role, you can expect a salary between $110,000-$130,000 annually, depending on experience. This is for a new vacancy.
Responsibilities- Strategic Growth & Vision: Drive 12-month business growth plans that move clients from "media buyers" to "business partners." Define whitespace opportunities and navigate the challenges of a fragmented Canadian media landscape.
- Planning Excellence: Oversee the end-to-end media planning process. Ensure 360-degree strategies are integrated, data-driven, and aligned with the customer journey.
- Thought Leadership: Curate custom learning agendas for clients, bringing the "New & Next" in media, and emerging tech to the forefront.
- Network & Resource Integration: Possess deep knowledge of our agency network offerings (Creative, Data, PR, etc.) to pull in the right experts at the right time.
- Relationship Management: Build high-trust partnerships at the CMO/Director level, resulting in top-tier client satisfaction scores and long-term retention.
- Commercial Stewardship: Maintain a deep understanding of responsible financial management and contract negotiations.
- Team Architecture: Ensure talent and resources are aligned for success. Mentor a team, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
- The
Experience:
10+ years of media-related experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or people-management role within a media agency. - Strategic Mastery: Previous experience with strategic connections planning and a sophisticated understanding of customer journey mapping.
- Media Fluency: A "360-degree" planning background. Understand how to balance brand-building awareness with lower-funnel performance tactics.
- Canadian Market Expertise: A strong profile and established relationships with key Canadian media partners.
- Storytelling & Influence: Impeccable presentation skills with the ability to turn complex data into a compelling narrative for C-suite stakeholders.
- Proactive Mindset: Comfortable looking 6–12 months ahead, anticipating market shifts before they impact your clients.
- Operational Rigor: Comfortable in a spreadsheet (managing agency fees and staffing) as in a brainstorm.
