Job Description

Sinai Health is seeking a Senior Manager for the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care department. The Senior Manager is responsible for supporting and monitoring the systems that support quality patient care, efficient operations, and staff growth and development. The position’s core functions are to oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of patient care and strategic initiatives across the Centre, including the Centre’s annual Achievement Review process and Achievement Plan, quality improvement processes, shared electronic medical record system, patient and caregiver engagement strategy, website and other external communication tools for key stakeholders, including patients and caregivers, health care professionals and donors.

The senior manager will provide administrative oversight for the Centre’s operations and academic programs, including providing leadership, mentorship and supervision to the office manager, CPAs, education coordinator, project specialist, research assistant, and other research staff as appropriate.

In this role you will:

Strategic initiatives
  • Work with the Leadership Team, identify and prioritize initiatives that will enhance the Centre’s operations and help the Centre to effectively meet the emerging needs of our key stakeholders (e.g., patients and their caregivers, care team partners, University of Toronto, Sinai Health, donors)
  • Provide support, advice and technical assistance to cross-functional teams to plan, execute and evaluate a variety of complex, innovative, project‑based strategic and quality improvement initiatives deemed critical to the ongoing evolution of the Centre’s services and programs
  • Assist the Director to navigate the evolving healthcare landscape, including supporting relationships with Ontario Health @ home or successor organization and the Ontario Health Teams (OHTs)
  • Identify and build opportunities for collaboration with external key stakeholders, including but not limited to the OH@Hs, OHT, University of Toronto and Sinai Health.
  • Ensure strategies are clearly understood by all stakeholders and that the organization is achieving its strategic goals at the optimum pace
  • Ensure initiatives/plans adhere to appropriate policies and regulations, and are aligned with the Centre’s vision, strategic directions and values
Specific ongoing initiatives
  • Oversee the Achievement Review process and creation of the Centre’s annual Achievement Plan
  • Develop and oversee a performance monitoring system for the Centre that includes identifying and monitoring of indicators and targets for quality, service, and efficiency of the organization.
  • Co‑lead the Centre’s EMR Committee to ensure efficient use of our electronic medical records system while ensuring medical and legal requirements are adhered to
  • Develop and manage the Centre’s patient and caregiver engagement strategy
Administrative/operational responsibilities
  • Provide administrative oversight for the Centre’s operations and academic programs, to ensure appropriate systems, policies and procedures are in place to enable work activities to flow smoothly for all aspects of the Centre, including clinical, education and research program areas
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of administrative, academic and professional staff as appropriate, including assessing the human resource requirements and development of job descriptions
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and administrative supervision to the Centre’s Office Manager and Project Specialist
