Job SummaryThe Project Controls Manager will lead the planning, execution, and control of large‑scale capital and infrastructure projects across construction, energy, transportation, and commercial development. This full‑time, in‑office role is based in Toronto, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities- Lead project controls teams for complex capital and infrastructure projects.
- Develop and implement project controls plans, tools, and processes in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders.
- Manage and update integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 and other scheduling tools.
- Oversee cost control processes including budget development, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
- Direct risk management activities, proactively identifying, mitigating, and tracking project risks.
- Lead earned value management (EVM) implementation and reporting.
- Perform high‑level schedule logic analysis, identify critical path issues, and propose corrective action plans.
- Manage change control processes, ensuring timely and accurate tracking of changes to cost, scope, and schedule.
- Produce dashboards and executive‑level summaries on schedule, budget, and risk performance.
- Mentor, train, and supervise project controls consultants and analysts.
- Serve as the primary client contact for all project controls matters, building relationships at senior levels.
- Contribute to internal knowledge development, standards implementation, and quality assurance reviews.
- Support proposal development, resourcing, and onboarding of new project controls assignments.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, contractual obligations, and applicable industry standards.
- Contribute to best‑practice development and improvement across the function.
- Minimum 10 years total project experience, including at least 5 years in a project controls management role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent working experience.
- Advanced degrees or professional certifications (PMP, PSP, CRMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Expertise in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Office, with advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Proven experience managing project controls functions on large‑scale infrastructure, energy, or capital projects.
- Extensive knowledge of earned value management and performance measurement techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of cost estimation, budget management, scheduling, and quantitative risk analysis.
- Experience developing and managing WBS and CBS across varied project scopes.
- Strong command of project management methodologies, change control processes, and risk frameworks.
- Experience in a consulting environment or managing client relationships in project delivery.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation of complex data to executive audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced consulting environment with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to travel and work outside normal business hours as required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be able to commute to Toronto or willing to relocate independently.
