Job Description

Our client, a global mining company with an expanding international portfolio, is seeking an accomplished Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide strategic leadership and oversee the company's mining operations, project development, and long-term growth initiatives.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for driving operational excellence, maximizing asset value, leading large multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring sustainable, safe, and profitable business performance across multiple mining projects.

This role is based in the Middle East and offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic organization with significant international growth

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the company's strategic vision and long-term business objectives.
  • Lead all aspects of the organization's operational and financial performance.
  • Build and mentor an experienced executive leadership team.
Operations & Project Oversight
  • Provide executive oversight of multiple mining operations and development projects.
  • Ensure assets achieve production, safety, environmental, and financial targets.
  • Oversee project execution from development through construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across mining, processing, engineering, maintenance, logistics, and support functions.
Business Growth & Strategy
  • Identify opportunities for expansion, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and new mining investments.
  • Lead feasibility evaluations and capital allocation decisions.
  • Optimize portfolio performance while managing operational and market risks.
  • Maintain full accountability for P&L performance.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans, operating budgets, and capital investment strategies.
  • Deliver sustainable shareholder value through disciplined financial management.
Governance & Stakeholder Management
  • Report directly to the Board of Directors on company performance, strategic initiatives, and key business risks.
  • Build strong relationships with investors, government authorities, regulatory agencies, joint venture partners, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Ensure full compliance with international governance, ESG, environmental, and health & safety standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Geology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • MBA or other advanced degree is considered a plus
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience within the mining industry.
  • Proven experience serving as CEO, President, Managing Director, Country Manager, COO, Executive Vice President, or in a comparable executive leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale mining operations and multiple projects across different jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of mine development, production, mineral processing, project execution, finance, and corporate governance.
  • Experience leading multinational and multicultural organizations.
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are considered an advantage.
