About The Role
Manager for the Personal Lines Underwriting team. Secondment for six months. Hybrid role: office 3 days per week in Toronto, North York, or Richmond Hill.

- Develop methods to inspire and build a highly effective and engaged team capable of meeting current and future needs through effective leadership.
- Develop, recommend, and implement leadership strategies, organizational structure, and processes/technology improvement initiatives.
- Provide effective leadership by continuously keeping staff informed on initiatives and results and share responsibility for overall performance, productivity, and engagement of team members.
- Develop and manage effective working relationships with Regional Managers and underwriters, as well as counterparts across the country and across distribution channels.
- Act as an ambassador for Corporate Personal Insurance liaising with Operations and Planning, Operational Performance, Sales and Business Development and Claims Management on planning, technical and administrative issues.
- Play a key and active role in the selection process and hiring of qualified staff.

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Marketing, Law or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of strong leadership and management experience, in a relevant field.
- Strong knowledge of personal lines products and systems preferred.
- Change leadership: implement process improvements and support employees during transitions.
- Data‑driven approach; comfortable with numbers and analysis; ability to interpret results and translate into business decisions.
- Ability to monitor competitive practices, industry trends, or other developments impacting business results and make recommendations regarding corporate practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to foster and maintain effective professional relationships at all levels of the organization.
- People and/or Project Management experience with strong skills in collaboration, coaching and mentoring, and proven success in team building and managing relationships with a remote team.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with insight into different perspectives and approaches.
- Can master multiple priorities under time constraints with a sense of urgency; setting clear objectives and monitoring the progress of multiple initiatives and deadlines.
- CIP or FCIP preferred.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada (no Canadian work experience required).
