Interim Director of Labour Relations

Take the lead in labour relations with a crucial interim role reporting to the CHRO, based in the Greater Toronto Area (Hybrid). This position demands strategic negotiation expertise, particularly with CUPE and OPSEU.

We are seeking an experienced Interim Director of Labour Relations for an 8-12 week engagement. You'll spearhead a complex bargaining cycle, ensuring operational continuity and managing multifaceted labour dynamics. Your ability to balance firm negotiations with relationship building is key to navigating this challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop enterprise-wide bargaining strategies aligned to fiscal realities

• Serve as chief spokesperson at negotiation tables with unions

• Rebuild relationships with union leadership to stabilize dynamics

• Provide strategic counsel on labour relations to executive teams

• Oversee grievance management and ensure policy compliance

Requirements:

• 10+ years of labour relations leadership experience

• Proven success in collective bargaining negotiations

• Direct experience with public-sector unions

• Strong skills in multi-union environments

• Capability to manage high-stakes negotiations
