George Brown College seeks a Provost and Vice‑President, Academic to lead vision, strategy, and transformation across the college’s academic portfolio. The role drives innovation, equity, and alignment with labour markets while advancing Indigenous education and STEM excellence.
Responsibilities- Develop and lead strategic priorities in academic programming, research, enrollment planning, student services, and teaching and learning.
- Lead academic transformation with integrity and collaboration across deans, the Office of the Registrar, curriculum, student services, and research functions.
- Mentor and support a high‑performing academic leadership team, fostering a culture of trust, inclusion, and accountability.
- Advance the college’s branding and differentiated identity through curriculum renewal and growth of research, creative, and scholarly activity.
- Support faculty professional development in teaching and learning, research, and program assessment.
- Use advanced sector and institutional data analytics to guide academic planning, program viability, enrollment strategy, and resource allocation.
- Align programs with government priorities, STEM and workforce trends, and the financial strategy, ensuring data‑informed decision making.
- Lead academic quality assurance and accreditation activities.
- Champion a full learner journey and career‑oriented learning experience from recruitment through outcomes.
- Expand digital, hybrid, and experiential learning for diverse learners across the learning continuum.
- Embed equity and Indigenous ways of knowing and being across pedagogy and the student experience.
- Promote a culture of research excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Drive innovation through artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and interdisciplinary partnerships.
- Cultivate partnerships to grow experiential, work‑integrated learning, research, innovation, and global reach, supporting an urban institutional profile.
- Senior executive leadership experience guiding organizational strategy, transformation, and cross‑functional or cross‑sector collaboration.
- Track record of advancing equity, inclusion, and reconciliation in policy, practice, and culture.
- Ability to navigate complexity, engage diverse stakeholders, and lead teams through change.
- Strong financial and operational acumen to connect strategy with sustainability—both financial and environmental.
- Appreciation for applied learning and vision for building partnerships that expand opportunity and impact of the institution.
- Earned doctoral degree preferred; equivalent leadership experience considered.
- Experience identifying and implementing new revenue opportunities aligned with the college’s strengths.
- Experience leading in a unionized environment.
- Strategic & entrepreneurial leadership in complex environments.
- Commitment to equity and a clear understanding of how education transforms lives.
- Built and led high‑performing teams, driven large‑scale change, and led with integrity.
