Vice President, Corporate Reporting

The Vice President, Corporate Reporting plays a critical role in directing the Tricon’s corporate accounting and reporting function. They partner closely with stakeholders across the organization to oversee accounting activities and all aspects of the Company’s accounting operations and internal control environment, including system implementations and support for budgeting and forecasting as needed.
The Vice President, Corporate Reporting brings deep expertise in finance, accounting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls, and is accountable for both ongoing and ad hoc reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Mentor and lead a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching, career development and training to raise competency and create growth opportunities within the team.
- Lead a team covering financial reporting, key performance indicators, special projects and ad hoc analysis.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of strong financial reporting systems and controls ensuring that key functional leaders and their teams are provided with accurate, timely and relevant financial data that is helpful in running the company.
- Ensure that financial transactions, policies and procedures meet corporate short and long-term objectives and all regulatory requirements.
- Direct managers and team members on sound approaches for complex accounting transactions.
- Partner at all levels of the organization to develop, implement, and execute initiatives to deliver best-in-class financial reporting.
- Oversee the monthly reporting process to investors and review monthly reports.
- Manage the preparation and review of all monthly, quarterly and annual reports and associated consolidated financial statements, footnotes, MD&A and supporting schedules and present them to the executive team.
- Direct/lead annual audit process and resolve complex accounting matters with the auditors.
- Oversee and enforce proper internal controls, including recommendations for improvement.
- Support CAO and the corporate finance team with annual budget process and quarterly reforecast.
- Lead process improvements and automation to enhance accuracy of financial reporting.
- Develop strong relationships within the organization to identify and solve issues collaboratively.
- Thorough knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting and financial reporting.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-growth and challenging environment.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce (or relevant field)
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including 5+ years of manager and/or leadership experience
- CPA designation
- Big 4 experience
- SOX experience
- Experience with Yardi accounting software
- Residential real estate experience and knowledge of REIT KPI reporting
