Replacement:
This position is open due to an existing vacancy to support our evolving business needs.

Director, Corporate Communications

Our purpose is to Inform the Way forward. Together with the professionals and institutions we serve, we help uphold the rule of law, turn the wheels of commerce, catch bad actors, report the facts, and provide trusted, unbiased information to people all over the world. Our people, products and customers turn this purpose into action, every day and create meaningful positive impact on communities around the world.

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative product communications leader to set the strategy that will help us forward our product, technology, and customer stories.

Based in Toronto and reporting to the VP Product Communications and Corporate Affairs, the Director of Corporate Communications will actively drive corporate media relations, corporate reputation building, financial communications, and issues management for the company. The role requires the candidate to enjoy being ‘hands on’, with a high degree of autonomy, the ability to operate in uncertainty in a matrixed organization and largely without junior support.

The role requires extremely good attention to detail.

The candidate will operate as a principal spokesperson on corporate, financial and crisis communications, engaging directly with the media on a regular basis, including managing relations with Reuters journalists who are free to report on Thomson Reuters without favor. This is a high-visibility, high-pressure role. The successful candidate will be a decisive, results-oriented leader who can develop and manage relationships across the company and with a wide variety of partners based on trust, teamwork and domain expertise.

The candidate must have the experience and enthusiasm for communications to think proactively, and work with communications peers, marketing, lines of business and other constituents. They will be expected to develop and execute integrated strategies that help realize our company’s purpose and drives responsible growth/revenue.

The position will offer access and exposure to many different departments across the company, and the successful candidate will have regular dealings with the company's executive leadership. The candidate should have superb relationship management capabilities with the aptitude to anticipate and solve complicated issues, while being able to present in a clear and compelling manner.

Passionate about technology and the impact this has on our customers the successful candidate will be comfortable working in a large matrixed organization, managing a team and driving progress.
