Position Overview
The Development Director is responsible for securing the financial resources necessary to sustain and expand A Safe Place’s impact. This role leads the organization’s fundraising strategy, focusing primarily on cultivating donor relationships, increasing corporate sponsor ships and executing ASP’s annual golf tournament and luncheon. The Development Director will also oversee donor stewardship, annual giving campaigns, and community engagement efforts to enhance our financial support.

Working closely with the CEO and Board of Directors, this role will help set fundraising goals, implement key initiatives, and develop sustainable revenue streams that align with ASP’s mission to support survivors and empower those vulnerable to sex trafficking and exploitation.

Mission Alignment
The Development Director plays a vital role in ensuring the financial sustainability of A Safe Place, enabling the organization to continue its mission of supporting survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation. By leading fundraising efforts and engaging with the community, this position directly contributes to ASP’s ability to expand its services, advocate for survivors, and strengthen the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Events and Campaigns

Responsible for driving revenue growth through events, corporate sponsor ships, and donor engagement, while meeting or exceeding annual fundraising targets established in collaboration with the CEO and the Board.

Oversee the planning and execution of ASP’s annual golf tournament and luncheon, ensuring these events successfully promote fundraising and community involvement.

Coordinate event logistics, including outreach to sponsors, ticket sales, vendor management, and follow‑up with donors.

Monitor fundraising objectives for events to ensure they align with ASP’s revenue goals.

Corporate Sponsorship Development

Cultivate and expand relationships with corporate sponsors by leveraging ASP’s existing sponsor network while also identifying new partners.

Develop sponsorship packages and outreach strategies to secure corporate commitments.

Ensure sponsors are appropriately stewarded, recognized, and engaged in ASP’s mission beyond financial support.

Donor Stewardship and Annual Giving

Manage a portfolio of donors, ensuring regular engagement and personalized stewardship.

Develop and implement annual giving campaigns to sustain and grow ASP’s donor base.

Track and report on fundraising progress, adapting strategies as needed to meet revenue goals.

Community Engagement

Participate in local events that enhance ASP’s visibility and strengthen donor relationships.

Engage with faith‑based organizations, civic groups, and business leaders to expand ASP’s support network.

Oversee ASP’s public fundraising efforts, including collaborating on social media and engaging in networking events.

Collaboration with the CEO and Board

Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement fundraising strategies.

Present fundraising updates at board meetings, ensuring transparency and engagement in fundraising efforts.

Train board members on fundraising strategies to ensure they fulfill ASP’s “give or get” requirement.

Other Duties

Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO to meet the organization’s needs.

Core Competencies

Strong background in fundraising strategy and event management.

Proven ability to cultivate donor relationships and secure sponsor ships.

Excellent public speaking and presentation skills for board meetings and donor engagement.

Familiarity with corporate sponsorship development and donor stewardship best practices.

Experience with managing a CRM database / Neon.

Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and board members to achieve fundraising goals.

Preferred Experience

Three to six years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with a focus on events, donor relations, and corporate sponsor ships.

Demonstrated success in major gift cultivation and corporate partnerships.

Familiarity with community engagement and donor communications strategies.

Membership in a professional fundraising association such as AFP is preferred.

Position Details
Job Type: Full-Time (35+ hours per week)

Compensation: $62,000 – $88,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Hours:

Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with flexibility required for fundraising events, donor meetings, and community engagement.

Work Environment:
This role is based in our Wilmington office, with regular off‑site donor meetings and event coordination.

Reports to the CEO.
