Job Summary

Title: People and Family Experience Coordinator (Central-West: Peel, Halton, Dufferin)

Location: This is a hybrid working position, with regular travel required within the respective region. Travel to our main office (1179 King St W, Suite #004, Toronto, ON, M6K 3C5) or a regional office as needed.

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week; requires evenings and weekends

Salary: $64,000 - $67,000

Duration: One-year contract

Position Overview

Reporting to the People and Family Experience Supervisors, the People and Family Experience Coordinator (Central-West) at Autism Ontario plays a crucial role in strengthening relationships between the organization and the autism community across Ontario. This position is responsible for overseeing regional programs, supporting volunteers, and promoting autism awareness while ensuring alignment with Autism Ontario’s mission, vision, and values.

The role involves organizing social and educational events, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility, and maintaining positive relationships with funders, donors, and community partners. This is a dynamic and collaborative position that requires a strong commitment to supporting individuals and families in the autism community through meaningful programming, advocacy, and resource-sharing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all region-initiated programs and ensure they are following the policies, guidelines and procedures of Autism Ontario.
  • Support volunteers (parents, self-advocates, and professionals) in achieving the identified goals.
  • Work closely with the Fund Development Team on initiatives.
  • Actively recruit AO members & subscribers to AO e-news, work with volunteer coordinator to actively recruit new volunteers and build out more volunteer opportunities.
  • Support volunteers in achieving identified goals. Volunteer support includes meeting quarterly with the engagement committee, having semi-annual check-ins with each volunteer and coordinating the volunteer appreciation activities in collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to guide volunteer involvement and reflect the overall values of the organization.
  • Attend and be an active contributor to local community partnership meetings, representing the local community needs or provincial initiatives and stay updated on community resources.
  • Organize and execute 3-4 Social Learning Opportunities per month
  • Offer a minimum of one pre-school/new diagnosis multi-week program and one social event per quarter.
  • Facilitate a minimum of one adult multi-week program and one social event per quarter
  • Facilitate one of the following per quarter: CARES, Ausome Moms, Rad Dads and/or other Autism Ontario programs as developed and offer one additional social night for caregivers.
  • Identify suitable venues, schedule activities, create and distribute marketing materials, recruit and secure volunteer support, and ensure technology capabilities for all events in assigned region.
  • Evaluate and monitor program delivery, including but not limited to maintaining continuous records, updating relevant databases.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A degree/diploma in a related human services field (SSW, Volunteer Management, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program coordination, community engagement, or volunteer management, ideally within the non-profit or social services
  • Experience supervising volunteers in a non-profit setting
  • Experience planning and delivering community programs or events, including logistics, marketing, and evaluation.
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other developmental disabilities is an asset.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Ability and means to travel; a valid driver’s license is required
  • Lives within their (or is willing to travel frequently) to their assigned region
  • Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset
  • Must be proficient with various computer programs including data base management, email, Microsoft 365 applications and have familiarity with social media and other technology tools and approaches
