Mobilization Specialist, Activism & Engagement
Support community mobilization, advocacy, and grassroots engagement efforts across the Greater Toronto Jewish community. Build and activate a growing network of volunteers, advocates, community ambassadors, and emerging leaders engaged in civic participation, community action, advocacy campaigns, and public affairs initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute community mobilization and engagement strategies for advocacy, activism, and public affairs initiatives.
- Recruit, engage, and support volunteers, activists, ambassadors, and community leaders in campaigns, trainings, events, and community actions.
- Coordinate grassroots organizing efforts, leadership engagement opportunities, and rapid-response mobilization activities.
- Support community outreach and relationship-building initiatives across diverse stakeholder groups and community networks.
- Coordinate campaign logistics, volunteer communications, engagement tracking, and operational processes to support successful execution of initiatives.
- Assist with organizing trainings, workshops, rallies, advocacy events, leadership initiatives, and community engagement opportunities.
- Maintain engagement databases, volunteer tracking systems, outreach lists, and campaign reporting processes.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal teams, community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders to support mobilization objectives and community participation.
- Support efforts to strengthen civic participation, Jewish communal engagement, and grassroots leadership development throughout the community.
- Postsecondary education in Political Science, Public Affairs, Communications, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, Jewish Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in community organizing, grassroots activism, advocacy campaigns, volunteer engagement, public affairs, nonprofit organizations, political campaigns, student leadership, or related fields.
- Passionate advocate and champion of UJA’s mission, values, and goals, inspiring others through action and commitment.
- Experience recruiting, engaging, mobilizing, or coordinating volunteers, activists, ambassadors, supporters, or community stakeholders.
- Experience supporting campaigns, advocacy initiatives, grassroots organizing efforts, leadership programs, events, or community engagement activities.
- Strong relationship‑building, communication, and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, coordination, and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and professionalism.
- Experience with in Jewish communal organizations, Hillel, student leadership, youth movements, advocacy organizations, or civic engagement initiatives is a strong asset.
- Passion for Jewish communal life, civic engagement, grassroots organizing, leadership development, and community activism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM, engagement, or volunteer databases is considered an asset.
Full‑time permanent position, Union Level
4. Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience. Flexible work schedule with hybrid options. Rich time‑off policy, office closures on Jewish holy days and Sabbath. Comprehensive benefits package.
