Position Overview

The Initiative Coordinator will play a vital support role for their respective Regenesis Chapter, working closely with the Chapter Director to drive forward key initiatives and support the success of campaigns and events. This role offers hands‑on experience in areas like grant writing, project management, and event coordination, contributing directly to impactful sustainability and community engagement efforts across campus.

Ideal candidates are passionate about environmental advocacy and community organizing, with strong organizational skills and a proactive approach. Candidates must be registered students for the upcoming Fall/Winter term (2026‑2027) at any of the following schools:
UofT St. George, UofT Mississauga, UofT Scarborough, or York University.

This is an official Work to Grow position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grant and Space Proposals
    • Assist in researching and drafting grant proposals to secure funding for chapter activities and initiatives.
    • Help prepare and submit proposals for campus space allocations, ensuring proper documentation.
    • Track deadlines and requirements for grant applications, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Meeting Attendance and Participation
    • Attend meetings (both in-person and online) with campus partners, stakeholders, and external organizations.
    • Record key action items and follow up on assigned tasks.
    • Support meeting preparation, including drafting agendas, reports, and presentations.
  • Campaign Support
    • Assist in planning and executing campaigns to build awareness and engage support from students and the campus community.
    • Contribute to developing campaign strategies and promotional materials that align with chapter goals.
    • Participate in canvassing and other outreach efforts, engaging with students in person and online.
  • Event and Initiative Support
    • Support the planning and execution of chapter events such as workshops, community outreach initiatives, and educational programming.
    • Assist with event logistics, including venue coordination, volunteer management, and event promotion.
    • Provide hands‑on support during events, ensuring smooth operation and attendee engagement.
  • Administrative Assistance
    • Keep organized records of grant proposals, meeting notes, and event plans.
    • Assist with day‑to‑day administrative tasks, such as managing schedules, tracking chapter projects, and handling communication tasks.
Qualifications
  • Current university student at UofT or York, preferably with a focus on sustainability, environmental science, public policy, social sciences, or a related field.
Experience
  • Prior experience in writing, research, or event coordination is helpful but not required.
Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.
  • Comfortable with in‑person and virtual communication tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and similar software.
