We are building modern versions of the ancient Greek agoras - gathering places that were central to the development of democracy, public discourse and social impact, while serving as the foundation for community life. Role Description

This is a part-time Volunteer role based in Toronto, ON, with flexibility in the amount of hours. You will help organize and facilitate community events, support logistics such as venue setup and registration, and assist with outreach to local residents and community partners. Responsibilities may include welcoming participants, guiding discussions, capturing feedback, and coordinating follow-up activities for local initiatives. The role also involves collaborating with the team on event planning, communication materials, and maintaining an inviting, respectful atmosphere for all attendees.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills to build trust and facilitate inclusive discussions.
  • Organizational and time-management abilities for coordinating events, handling logistics, and managing multiple tasks.
  • Community engagement and outreach skills, including experience working with diverse groups and local organizations.
  • Basic administrative and coordination skills, such as email communication, scheduling, and maintaining participant records.
  • Demonstrated interest in democracy, civic engagement, social impact, or community development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on-site in Toronto, ON, and maintain a welcoming, non-discriminatory environment.
  • Reliability and initiative, with a willingness to take on responsibilities and contribute ideas for improving events and programs.
  • Previous volunteer, facilitation, or event support experience is an asset but not required.
