CDP​/Line Cook

Stefano's Diner in Toronto is seeking a Chef de Partie / Line Cook to execute its 100% plant-based, Italian-inspired menu in a high-volume scratch kitchen. As the casual sibling to the Michelin-recommended Gia, our scratch kitchen focuses on comfort food made with zero compromises.

Key Responsibilities

• Station Management: Set up, stock, and maintain assigned stations (grill, sauté, fry, or brunch/prep) before, during, and after service.
• Italian-Diner Execution: Prepare and cook 100% plant-based menu items with consistent precision—ranging from frying Arancini and Artichoke Fritti to executing Rigatoni Bolognese, Eggplant Parmigiana, and multi-component weekend brunch items.
• Scratch-Prep Mastery: Complete daily prep lists accurately.
• Quality & Speed: Maintain high-speed line mechanics during heavy lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch rushes to ensure every dish meets our strict presentation and temperature standards.
• Inventory & Freshness: Properly handle, rotate, and store premium ingredients (such as local organic mushrooms, Red Fife focaccia, and artisan sourdough) to guarantee peak freshness and minimal waste.
• Sanitation & Safety: Strictly adhere to local food safety and sanitation guidelines, keeping a clean, orderly workspace at all times.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 1–3 years of experience as a line cook or CDP in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Prior scratch-prep or upscale plant-based/Italian kitchen experience is highly valued.
• Precision Knife & Prep Skills: Excellent knife skills and the technical ability to follow complex recipes to the letter.
• Certifications: Valid local Food Handler certificate.
• Physical Stamina: Capacity to remain on your feet for full shifts, navigate a fast-moving kitchen floor, and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
