Business Development Representative
About the Role
Alternative Payments is building the financial operating system for SMBs, consolidating the disconnected tech stack that holds service-based businesses back. Starting with MSPs, we’ve spent five years perfecting accounts receivable and are now expanding into accounts payable, AI‑powered analytics, and beyond.
Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid – Downtown Toronto office 3‑4 days a week)
Key Responsibilities- Own outbound prospecting into targeted accounts through cold calling (80‑100 calls per day), email, and social outreach; research accounts, personalize messaging, and consistently generate qualified meetings that convert into pipeline.
- Operate with discipline and consistency against daily activity targets; maintain accurate CRM hygiene, track performance metrics, and continuously test and refine outreach strategies.
- Develop a strong understanding of Alternative Payments’ platform and the Managed Service Provider (MSP) ecosystem; stay curious about fintech trends and emerging tools (including AI) that improve outbound effectiveness.
- Work closely with Account Executives and sales leadership to refine messaging, share market feedback, and contribute to scalable outbound strategies.
- Participate actively in coaching, training, and peer collaboration to continuously elevate individual and team performance.
- High internal drive and competitiveness; comfortable handling rejection and high outbound volume.
- Strong coachability and willingness to implement feedback quickly.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, systems‑oriented approach to managing work and data.
Option A – Early Sales Experience (1–2 years)
- Experience in outbound sales, SDR/BDR, or related roles.
- Track record of meeting or exceeding activity or meeting targets.
- Experience maintaining accurate CRM records.
- Nice to have: experience in fintech, payments, or the MSP ecosystem.
- Nice to have: startup or high‑growth company experience.
- Nice to have: familiarity with modern sales tools or AI‑assisted prospecting workflows.
Option B – High‑Drive Career Starter
- Experience in high‑performance or customer‑facing environments (e.g., athletics, hospitality, recruitment, or similar).
- Demonstrated grit, consistency, and goal achievement.
- Solid interest in building a long‑term career in sales and fintech.
Base salary: $60,000 CAD plus up to $20,000 CAD uncapped bonus for a total target range of $80,000 CAD.
