About

Workers First

Workers First Technologies is an AI-powered workforce platform that connects frontline healthcare workers with shifts at long-term care, retirement, and community care homes across Ontario. Our marketplace helps homes fill shifts faster and more reliably while giving healthcare workers the flexibility to work when and where they choose. We are growing quickly and looking for a driven Business Development Representative to accelerate that growth.

About

the Role

We are hiring two Business Development Representatives — one for the Greater Toronto Area and one for Southwestern Ontario (London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton-Niagara, Windsor, and surrounding regions). Please indicate your preferred territory when applying. In either territory, you will own two numbers: the number of homes actively using the Workers First platform, and the number of shifts posted and filled by those homes.

This is a field-based sales role — you will spend most of your week in front of Administrators, Directors of Care, Staffing Coordinators, and Regional Operators, signing new homes and then working with them to move real shift volume onto the platform. You will be the face of Workers First in your territory.

This role suits an early-career seller who is hungry, organized, and comfortable knocking on doors — or an experienced field rep who wants ownership of a market and upside tied directly to results.

What You Will Do
  • Grow the home base: Prospect, pitch, and close new long-term care, retirement, and community care homes through in-person visits, cold outreach, referrals, and local networking.
  • Activate accounts: Onboard newly signed homes and drive them to post their first shifts within the first two weeks, working hands‑on with staffing coordinators and schedulers.
  • Obtain shifts: Increase shift postings and fill rates at existing homes by identifying open needs (call‑ins, vacation coverage, chronic vacancies) and positioning Workers First as the first call.
  • Own the relationship: Build durable relationships at every level of a home’s organization — from the front desk to regional operations — and resolve issues quickly to protect the account.
  • Run a disciplined pipeline: Maintain an accurate pipeline and activity log in the CRM; report weekly on homes signed, shifts posted, shifts filled, and revenue against target.
  • Be our eyes in the market: Feed market intelligence back to the product and operations teams — competitor activity, pricing pressure, staffing pain points, and feature requests.
  • Show up: Represent Workers First at industry events, association meetings, and conferences across Ontario.
What Success Looks Like
  • New homes signed and activated per month, with shift postings within 14 days of signing.
  • Month-over-month growth in shifts posted and filled across your book of accounts.
  • High retention and account health — homes that post once should post again.
  • A clean, current CRM and a forecast your manager can trust.
What You Bring
  • 1–3+ years in sales, business development, staffing, or healthcare operations — or a demonstrated record of hustle in a customer‑facing role.
  • Comfort with field sales: cold visits, walk‑ins, and building rapport face‑to‑face.
  • Strong communication and follow‑through; you do what you say you will do.
  • Organized and self-directed — you can run a territory without daily supervision.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle (car allowance provided). You must be based in, or willing to travel extensively throughout, your assigned territory.
  • Familiarity with long‑term care, retirement homes, healthcare staffing, or marketplace platforms is a strong asset.
Compensation
  • Base salary: $50,000–$55,000 CAD per year.
  • Uncapped commission tied to homes signed and shifts filled; on‑target earnings of approximately $90,000 CAD.
  • Monthly car allowance.
  • Growth path into senior sales or market leadership roles as Workers First expands into new jurisdictions.
