As an active member of the Business Development team, the incumbent will source, develop & enhance new and existing partnerships with Investment Advisors, Dealers & MGAs. This includes supporting and executing on various sales activities, sales campaigns and Business Development and/or Marketing driven initiatives to build sales momentum, elevate the customer experience and contribute to the maximization of profitable sales growth.

To be successful in the role, the incumbent must be well-versed in all investment lending products and services offered by Laurentian Bank of Canada.

The incumbent is responsible for promoting, selling the bank's products and services within their assigned geographic territory. The Business Development Manager will seek out new business opportunities and build positive relationships with Financial Advisors, Insurance Agents and Deposit Brokers within the bank's distribution channels – MGAs and MFDA.

Responsibilities
  • Sells and promotes the bank's products and services in order to meet sales objectives.
  • Develops and submits a monthly sales strategy plan to achieve objectives.
  • Establishes contact and builds relationships with targeted intermediaries through planned sales activities to promote and sell products and services.
  • Daily tracking and logging of sales activities for reporting on results and action plans on the bank's CRM system.
  • Solves, in collaboration with internal stakeholders, any escalated issues that could have an effect on client retention and business growth.
  • Develops and maintains ongoing business relationships with organizations and associations within the territory.
  • Responds to client calls promptly and provides a high level of service.
  • Prepares, coordinates and delivers presentations for client meetings, groups and conferences.
  • Provides feedback to contribute to the development of new products and services and ongoing initiatives.
  • Occasional participation with committees or internal activities, and may be called upon to
    represent Business Development with various organization's stakeholders.
  • Keeps up-to-date with current legislation and with the bank's policies and procedures.
  • Executes general tasks at the request of his/her superior or that may be required by his/her function.
  • Effective execution of the sales process and sales cycle with clients.
Qualifications
  • 4 to 6 years of business development experience within the financial services industry.
    Knowledge of Mutual Funds, Segregated Funds, Investment Lending, RSPs and Deposit product sand established network of Insurance & Mutual Fund advisors in Western Canada
  • Professional presentation and public speaking skills (i.e. Toastmasters and Dale Carnegie) are required for the role.
  • Effective listening skills are essential.
  • Must be open to direction and constructive criticism while being able to provide a level of professionalism.
  • Customer focused, adept at building customer relationships.
  • Energetic and outgoing individual who is a self-starter and can work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Effectively manage travel schedule within territory and meet or exceed client contact objectives.
  • Ability to exude professionalism in high stress situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bilingual (Mandarin/Cantonese) verbal and written communications skills are an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability in core and role specific competencies including sales growth, business development, teamwork, adaptability, customer service, innovation, relationship building and flexibility.
NOTE:

As frequent travel is required, a valid driver's licence and access to an automobile is essential.
