The Centre for Computational Medicine (CCM) at The Hospital for Sick Children is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatician to join our team. Located within the Sick Kids Research Institute, the CCM is a core facility that provides the scientific community with expertise in data science, high‑performance computing, and machine learning. The successful candidate will apply their bioinformatics expertise to large‑scale genomic sequencing datasets spanning diverse diseases and health outcomes, and will contribute to the development and enhancement of CCM’s software infrastructure.
Here’sWhat You’ll Get To Do
- Apply state‑of‑the‑art bioinformatics methods to genomics and other omics data
- Contribute to cutting‑edge findings in biology and health
- Develop data processing and reporting pipelines to manage and maintain data quality and provenance
- Work in a casual work environment where learning and development are keys to success
- Interact with other bioinformaticians, programmers and scientists
- Contribute to bioinformatics training events
- B.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Genomics or equivalent. Masters degree preferred.
- 1 or more years of experience in biomedical or genomic data analysis.
- Proficiency with Unix / Linux command‑line environment.
- Proficiency with High‑Performance Computing (HPC) and Slurm scheduler.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret large‑scale sequencing datasets.
- Ability to manage project demands and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working with large datasets related to disease studies.
- Knowledge of medical genomics.
- Experience in developing software tools or computational pipelines.
- Experience in teaching or training others in bioinformatics methods.
- Record of scientific publications.
- 1‑year contract with a possibility of extension.
- 35‑hour work week, 1.0 FTE
- Hybrid (onsite and remote) work model
