Job DescriptionThe Scientific Specialist provides advanced scientific, technical, and operational leadership to support laboratory operations, research initiatives, and strategic business objectives. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in laboratory instrumentation, analytical methods, and scientific technologies, the role supports complex analytical projects, develops innovative methodologies, and ensures the delivery of high‑quality, defensible analytical results.
The Scientific Specialist collaborates with cross‑functional teams to improve laboratory capabilities, resolve technical challenges, and support specialized scientific projects for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for laboratory instrumentation, analytical methods, and emerging scientific technologies.
- Provide advanced technical support and guidance to laboratory operations, project teams, and business development groups.
- Develop, evaluate, validate, and optimize analytical methods and technologies to support operational and research needs.
- Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and analytical processes, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure laboratory methods, systems, and procedures remain compliant with applicable standards.
- Develop, review, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory protocols.
- Provide senior‑level data review to ensure analytical accuracy, quality, and adherence to QA/QC requirements.
- Support laboratory operations through method optimisation, process improvements, and technical consultation.
- Coordinate and support complex technical or research projects from planning through completion.
- Contribute to preparation of technical proposals, research plans, reports, and scientific documentation.
- Serve as a technical contact for internal stakeholders and external clients for project‑related inquiries when required.
- Train laboratory personnel on instrumentation, analytical techniques, and laboratory procedures.
- Evaluate new technologies, instrumentation, and methodologies and recommend strategic implementation.
- Establish and maintain relationships with laboratory equipment vendors and technology suppliers.
- Participate in industry meetings, workshops, and professional seminars to remain current with scientific advancements.
- Support business development initiatives by providing technical expertise for specialised projects or client requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality systems, and health and safety programmes.
- Participate in internal and external audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
