The Environmental Monitoring Technician is responsible for conducting sampling, testing, and monitoring of environmental conditions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards on all projects. This role supports environmental protection, sustainability initiatives, and compliance reporting through fieldwork, data collection, and analysis.

- Maintain compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements, permits, and guidelines related to project operations.
- Install, inspect, and monitor water level, water flow, and water quality instrumentation, and submit required monitoring records.
- Monitor all pumping systems and associated components daily to ensure proper operation and performance.
- Diagnose system and/or mechanical failures on site.
- Perform on-site adjustments, maintenance, and repairs on pumping and discharge filtration systems as required.
- Liaise with on-site clients, engineers, and regulatory agency representatives to ensure all operations remain compliant with environmental permits and project requirements.
- Comply with Aquatech’s Health & Safety Policy, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and all PPE requirements.
- Demonstrate flexibility and leadership by performing additional duties as necessary to ensure project success, client satisfaction, and the continued growth of the organization.
Education, Certification, Technical Skills and Soft Skills
- Diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, or related field
- years in environmental monitoring, field sampling, or environmental compliance (entry-level roles may consider recent graduates)
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and monitoring practices
- Proficiency with sampling equipment, lab testing, and environmental monitoring tools
- Strong data collection, reporting, and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental software
- Valid driver’s license (field travel may be required)
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping abilities
- Safety-conscious and environmentally responsible
- Ability to work independently and outdoors in varying conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
