Job DescriptionEurofins Experchem Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Molecular Biology Analyst II to join our growing team in Toronto, Canada. In this mid-level position, you will perform complex molecular biology analyses and contribute to our laboratory's commitment to delivering accurate, reliable results. You will work collaboratively with senior scientists and cross-functional teams to support our clients' analytical needs while maintaining the highest standards of quality and precision.
- Perform molecular biology techniques including PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, and quantitation with meticulous attention to detail
- Analyze and interpret molecular biology data using appropriate software and databases, documenting findings in a clear and organized manner
- Prepare and maintain laboratory samples, reagents, and equipment according to established protocols and standard operating procedures
- Conduct quality control testing and validation studies to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical results
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, troubleshooting minor issues and documenting maintenance activities
- Enter and manage data in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) with accuracy and efficiency
- Collaborate with team members to develop and optimize analytical methods and procedures
- Prepare technical reports and summaries of findings for internal review and client delivery
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance standards
- Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance technical skill set
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience in molecular biology, genetics, or related analytical laboratory field
- Demonstrated proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA analysis, gel electrophoresis, and quantitation analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex laboratory data
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and molecular biology data analysis software
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain comprehensive laboratory documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting results and collaborating with team members
- Proficiency in using laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Knowledge of quality assurance principles and regulatory compliance in analytical laboratories
- Preferred:
Certification or training in laboratory quality management systems
This position will be working in a laboratory environment where standing is required for greater than 50% of the time to work at the bench for analyses. Light lifting requirements of no more than 20 lbs. Evening and weekend shift work may be required. Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate PPE. Lifting requirements may apply.
