Reports To: Director, Global Exploration

Location: Toronto, Corporate Office

Aids in the execution of Hudbay’s exploration activities to create value through increasing reserves and resources of the company.

• Contribute, as part of the corporate exploration team, to technical projects with geological aspects (e.g. geological modelling, database validation, project evaluation etc.).
• Ensure best technical practices are introduced or continued for use on our exploration projects.
• Provide geological review (modelling, exploration upside, red flags etc.) in project evaluations, M&A targets or in-house projects.
• Communicate progress of technical work to the immediate team on a regular basis. Technical assistance for exploration projects and target generation when needed.
• Complete any field work with a clear understanding of Hudbay’s safe work practices.

• 10+ years working in the mining exploration industry. Strong competence in applying best practices to our projects & mine sites.
• Professional registration or eligibility.
• University degree, advanced degree (MSc or PhD) an asset.
• Fluency in English required, Spanish an asset.

• Strong technical background in multiple geologic environments (Porphyry, Orogenic Gold, Skarn and/or VMS).
• Proficiency with GIS and 3D modelling software.
• Ability to conduct geologic mapping and drill core logging when required.
• Clear and effective communicator.
• Collaborative as part of a team of geoscientific professionals.

• Expected Compensation: Base salary $119,000 - $149,000 CAD per year.
