Lead Forensic Scientist

Become an essential contributor to Ontario's justice system as a Lead Forensic Scientist in Toronto. Oversee forensic testing, interpret DNA data, and provide expert testimony in court.

This permanent position as a Scientist 4 (G22) requires a strong background in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Genetics and experience in forensic sciences. You will direct examinations for body fluids, interpret test results, and prepare detailed scientific reports. Additionally, you’ll participate in education, mentoring, and applied research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct examinations for blood and DNA evidence

• Interpret body fluid and DNA test results

• Prepare and present expert scientific reports

• Travel to provide court testimonies as an expert witness

• Educate and mentor junior forensic staff

Requirements:

• Honours B.A. or

B.Sc in a related field

• Experience in forensic biology and analytical instrumentation

• Knowledge of quality assurance in forensic services

• Proficient in lab information management tools

• Strong communication skills for expert presentations
