POSITION SUMMARY
The Geological Modeler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously refining geological models that support mineral resource estimation, exploration targeting, and project advancement. The incumbent works closely with the exploration, resource estimation, and technical services teams to integrate geological, structural, geochemical, geotechnical and other data sets to generate empirically based 3D interpretations of deposit geology that serve as the framework for robust mineral resource and mineral reserve estimates.
The Geological Modeler contributes directly to the design and optimization of exploration, infill, and delineation drilling programs, supports internal and external technical reporting, and provides technical mentorship to junior geoscientists while fostering continual improvement in geological understanding and exploration decision-making.
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the role requires ongoing integration and evaluation of new drilling results, identification of geological risks and opportunities, and ensuring that all interpretations, assumptions, and recommendations are well documented and audit-ready.
- Experience exploring for and evaluating mineral deposits across a range of geological settings and operating environments.
- Proven expertise in geological modeling of precious and base metal deposits, including orogenic and intrusion-related gold systems.
- Strong understanding of lithological, structural, alteration, and mineralization controls on orebody geometry, geologic continuity and grade distribution as they relate to mineral resource estimation accuracy.
- Well-developed knowledge of mineral resource estimation principles, geological domaining methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with fellow geologists, mineral resource estimators, mining engineers, metallurgists, and other technical specialists to develop robust, fit-for-purpose geological and mineral resource models.
- Strong data integration, geological interpretation, targeting, and QA/QC skills, with the ability to synthesize large and complex datasets into practical exploration and development recommendations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to technical rigor.
- Working knowledge of geostatistics, sampling theory and best practice methods for geological data collection and management.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and communicate geological risks, uncertainties, and opportunities to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical summaries and reports, presentations, and recommendations for a variety of audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within demanding timelines.
- Proficiency with industry-standard geological and mining software, particularly Leapfrog, ioGAS, and QGIS.
- Familiarity with geological database management and mineral estimation software is considered a plus. (e.g: ac Quire, Datamine, Minesite, etc.).
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project site as required to collaborate directly with field teams in the review of drill core and exploration data to validate geological interpretations.
- P. Geo designation as a Practicing Member of a Provincial association, OGQ preferred
- Bachelor s degree in geology or geological engineering;
Master’s Degree is considered an asset - Minimum of 8 years’ experience in mineral exploration and resource development, including 3+ years’ experience with geological interpretation and modelling
- French language proficiency is considered a plus
