- Performs all of the functions of the electrician.
- Receives and analyzes all types of electronic circuits, wiring diagrams, schematics and drawings to inspect, install, repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, overhaul, modify or service all types of electronic devices and systems.
- Plans details of working procedure for such equipment to determine material or replacement needs and selects a logical approach to “trouble shooting” and repair problems.
- Makes sketches of parts and layouts; designs and constructs adaptations or conversion of component parts.
- Disassembles, inspects, adjusts, repairs or replaces faulty parts and wiring and reassembles all types of electronic devices; makes mechanical repairs as required.
- Inspects, tests and adjusts electronic equipment for safe and proper operation.
- Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electronic and electrical principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials and principles of operation and application of equipment.
- Prepares ladder diagrams for programmable control systems, e.g. Allen Bradley, Modicon, Texas Instruments, Digital Equipment Corp. etc.
- Records existing electrical drawings or makes sketches of modifications or additions; notifies supervisor immediately of changes.
- Returns electrical drawings to their assigned location and keeps file neat and in order.
- Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors and position sensing devices.
- Maintains and troubleshoots pressco camera systems.
- Maintains and updates records of repairs, calibrations, and tests; uses computer to store and retrieve data.
- Makes daily entries into the shop log book.
- Reports to supervisor any signs of potential unsafe conditions or downtime due to electrical equipment deterioration or tampering.
- Secures designated electrical cabinets by lock or seal when applicable.
- Advise production supervisor immediately upon completion of the job that operation of equipment can resume.
- Starts up, monitors operation, reports malfunction and shuts down all apparatus room equipment when licensed.
- Starts up and shuts down gas‑fired ovens when requested.
- Keeps assigned area clean and hazard‑free.
- Ensures all safety equipment, devices and guards are properly used and in place at all times; follows safe working procedures and safety rules.
