Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Heavy Equipment Operator role based in Toronto, ON. The Heavy Equipment Operator will safely operate a range of heavy equipment (such as excavators, loaders, and dozers) to perform excavation, grading, trenching, and back filling activities on construction sites.

Daily tasks include reading site plans or grade stakes, setting up work areas, performing pre-operational equipment checks, and coordinating with site supervisors and crew members to complete work efficiently.

The role involves loading and unloading materials, maintaining proper slopes and grades, and ensuring trenches and excavations meet project specifications and safety standards. The operator will also assist with routine equipment cleaning, basic maintenance, and reporting any mechanical issues or site hazards to management.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in heavy equipment and equipment operation, including excavators, loaders, dozers, and related machinery.
  • Hands‑on experience with excavation work, including trenching, grading, and earthmoving in construction or civil projects.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance practices, including daily inspections, basic repairs, and proper equipment care.
  • Familiarity with used equipment operation and limitations, with an emphasis on safe and efficient use.
  • Valid heavy equipment operator certification and/or relevant trade tickets as required in Ontario.
  • Understanding of construction site safety regulations, including OHSA guidelines and safe work procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret site drawings, grades, and instructions from supervisors or survey teams.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time‑management skills, with reliability in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites within the Greater Toronto Area and across Ontario.
