Overview
Vanderlande is a global leader in baggage handling and warehouse automation. This Service Technician II will support a large advanced automated warehouse in Canada, ensuring efficient preventive maintenance and rapid troubleshooting of material handling systems.
Essential Functions- Provide troubleshooting support for routine mechanical and electrical problems in the material handling system.
- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical components such as motors, motor‑gearbox assemblies, rollers, bearings, shafts, and sprockets.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical control components including photo‑eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, encoders, and variable frequency drives.
- Communicate status and findings to stakeholders and present updates on specialty systems.
- Interpret engineering drawings and schematics for layout, location, and operation of the system.
- Execute preventive maintenance (electrical and mechanical) and report on completed activities.
- Analyze system errors and replace machine spare parts as needed.
- Respond to call‑outs, faults, alarms, and warnings and monitor the system from the control room.
- Ensure compliance with all Vanderlande programs, policies, and procedures.
Education and Experience
- Proficient electro‑mechanical skills supporting automated systems.
- Electrical fault‑finding and fault‑rectification skills, including replacement and configuration of field devices (inverters, sensors, scanners, etc.).
- Mechanical fault‑finding and fault‑rectification skills (gearboxes, bearings, sprockets, drives, etc.).
- Experience with electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Skilled in use of standard electrical test instruments.
- Relevant vocational or technical qualifications.
- Valid driver licence.
- Electrical licence or certification:
Industrial Electrician Trade, Certified Construction/Maintenance Electrician, or "Red Seal" Industrial Millwright (asset).
- Warehouse operations experience.
- Conveyor or material handling services experience.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read diagrams, electrical drawings, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Knowledge of hand tools, precision measuring, and testing instruments.
- Flexibility to shift priorities quickly based on staff and system needs.
- Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer and service oriented.
- Basic computer skills.
- Problem‑solving under pressure and pro‑active attitude toward process improvement.
Full‑time; 24/7 operation.

Supervisory ResponsibilityNone.
Physical DemandsThe role requires frequent communication, close vision, and the ability to climb, reach, sit, and access confined spaces. Employees must frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift up to 120 lbs. Environmental factors include noise and vibration; ear protection is required.
Work EnvironmentWork occurs in manufacturing and control‑room settings with exposure to mechanical and electrical equipment, vibration, and noise. Employees will sit, stand, walk, kneel, and reach with hands and arms as necessary.
Other DutiesAdditional tasks may be assigned by management as needed.
CompensationSalary range: CAD $60,000 – CAD $68,000 per year. Eligible for annual performance bonus program.
