Job Responsibilities
- Create high-level programming codeplugs (e.g., P25, Linked CAP+, CAP MAX, Repeaters)
- Install and service complex wireless communications systems, including UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz systems, dispatch consoles, BDA/DAS systems, microwave systems, wireless broadband devices, and CCTV equipment
- Provide system recommendations and designs that meet customer requirements
- Travel regionally and/or overnight and be on call as needed
- 5+ years of service-technician experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex equipment in the 2-way radio or communications field
- Professional electronics background with knowledge of two-way radio theory, RF propagation, and communications systems
- Experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing RF equipment; familiarity with RF design and engineering
- Strong understanding of two-way radio theory, RF propagation characteristics at various frequency bands, and basic TCP/IP principles
- Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams; knowledge of battery backup systems, base stations, repeaters, multi-couplers, duplexers, and NIC programming
- Proficiency operating test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, and multimeters
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- CET certification, R56 Certified Installer, and Motorola Astro 4x-7x training required; additional certifications in Astro 25 and MotoTRBO products a plus
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent; security clearance a plus
- Drug screenings, motor-vehicle record check, and background checks required as part of the hiring process
