What You Will Do
  • Perform a variety of moderately complex carpentry duties necessary to construct, repair, renovate, and maintain structural woodwork such as concrete/steel forms, proprietary pre‑fab forms, shoring, hoarding, scaffolding; build framework, trim, stairs, doors, window frames, partitions, walls, ceilings, etc.
  • Engage in routine construction, maintenance, and repair work on bridge structures, tunnel structures, elevated guideways, retaining walls, slabs, and related infrastructure.
  • Execute maintenance and repair tasks including structure cleaning, abrasive blast cleaning, core drilling, steel and concrete repairs, concrete removal and replacement, and finishing; clean the subway and yard ROW (including biohazard and sharps handling), participate in structure maintenance drainage operations, type 1 asbestos abatement, type 2 asbestos clean‑up, and MMMF removal as required.
  • Maintain compliance with the respiratory protection program, ensuring certification to wear breathing apparatus.
  • Treat passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity, ensuring accommodations for persons with disabilities in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders.
What Qualifications Do You Bring?
  • Valid Certificate of Qualification as a General Carpenter (403‑A) and completion of the Carpentry apprenticeship training programme.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions.
  • Practical experience in the construction of concrete forms/shoring, including material selection, pressurized forms, pour stop bulkheads, expansion joints, specialized anchoring hardware, placement of reinforcing steel; approximately 12 months of related experience.
  • Current, non‑probationary, Province of Ontario class "G" driver’s licence in good standing.
  • Potential requirement to attend and complete TTC’s training program for truck operation and pass written and practical tests for a Class "DZ" driver’s licence.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements for passengers and employees.
