OverviewWe are looking for a highly motivated Jr. Building Operator to join our Operations team at Innovation Centre in Toronto. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and adjusting building equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and for ensuring all tenant and operation teams’ requests are completed in a timely manner.
Responsibilities- Monitor day‑to‑day operations and repairs of the complex’s HVAC equipment (including pumps, motors, fans, variable speed drives, compressors, etc.)
- Monitor Life Safety systems, building automation systems and lighting systems
- Maintain the water treatment program, perform regular water tests and add chemicals as required
- Carry out preventative maintenance on all building and HVAC equipment, including small plumbing repairs and drain clearing
- Respond to and resolve all tenant requests logged through 310‑MAXX, maintaining ongoing communication with tenants regarding any mechanical/HVAC issues
- Liaise with service providers and contractors
- Review and monitor contracted work to ensure safe performance and compliance with building standards
- Develop energy priorities for building systems in line with sustainability practices, including daily energy management of HVAC and lighting systems
- Perform general maintenance and other duties as requested
- Knowledge of and/or experience operating HVAC equipment, plumbing, electrical, BAS, FAS and Life Safety systems in a Class A office/retail complex
- Able to work 8‑hour shifts, Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 4:00pm (with flexibility to be on‑call when required)
- Must be able to lift 25lb
- Must be able to climb and safely use ladders
- Good communication skills and a team‑player attitude
- Enrolled and/or Building Environmental Systems (BES) Certification ClassI &II, BOMI SMT or SMA is preferred
- Skills in blueprint reading applied to technical areas
- Exceptional communication, organization, customer service, interpersonal and time‑management skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
The expected salary range for this position is $50,000–60,000 per year. Candidates may also be eligible to receive an annual incentive award pursuant to the Short‑Term Incentive plan and, if applicable, the Long‑Term Incentive plan, and to participate in group benefits and retirement plans.
