Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic

Wage: $37.00 per hour; full-time (40 hours)

Location of Work: 258 Toryork Drive, North York, ON M9L 1Y2

• Repair and maintain heavy trucks, trailers, and large outdoor machines like loaders, excavators and mowers
• Test, fix, and service diesel engines, hydraulic systems, hoses and cylinders and electrical parts to reduce downtime during busy season
• Repair mechanical transmissions, hydraulic transmissions & brake systems
• Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine extent of repair required
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance
• Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
• Service attachments and working tools
• Order needed parts and keep a clean repair shop
• Write down all work done and parts used

• 3 to 5 years of experience with heavy duty equipment repairs
• Know how diesel engines and hydraulics work.
• Lift heavy parts and work in different weather.
• Follow all workplace safety and health rules.
• Have a valid driver license
