Position: Theatre Technician 3 (Fall)

Purpose

This position provides technical services to internal (other University departments) and external clients. Technical services revolve around the performance facilities including five main venues and ancillary spaces.

Education

Graduate of a Post Secondary Institution in Theatre, Dance or Music Production or equivalent work experience. The equivalent work experience is High School graduation plus four (4) years of employment experience in music or stage production.

Experience

Three (3) years experience including:
Audio console operator and/or audio recording operator and/or deck audio/patch operator and/or lighting console operator and/or audio-visual/projection/display technology equipment operator and/or flyman and/or brickman and/or head carpenter and/or rigger.

Committed to providing superior service to customers. respond effectively to customer concerns and service issues as they arise. possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. able to communicate clearly and concisely. work independently and as a part of a team. demonstrate good judgment and willingness to take initiative. sensitive to student needs and interests. Leadership skills, ability to provide instruction and direction, ability to use judgment and prioritization.

Familiar with Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures. familiar with theatrical stage equipment and tools. ability to read stage and lighting diagrams and interpret them. ability to operate theatrical consoles including but not limited to sound, lighting and video.
