We are currently seeking an Apprentice
- Handyperson. This is a 40 hour work week on night shift (10:30pm
-7am) with Fridays & Saturdays as off days. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship training program, you will be classified as a Handyperson in wage group 8 and will be assigned to the first available vacancy in accordance with the Maintenance Seniority Regulations. • Working under the supervision of a licensed Handyperson, you will you will follow a training program involving progressively more complex work comprising of routine and varied maintenance and repair work performed on building structures and properties
• Finishing and repairing concrete floors, sidewalks, ramps, etc.; carrying out roof repairs/replacements; installing and repairing fences and barriers; carrying out excavation work; installation and removal of prefabricated shoring and associated wood timbers; driving a truck to transport crew, deliver parts, etc. and occasionally operating a skid steer loader
• Working in sequence within a crew varying from two to seven Handypersons and/or other Tradespersons
• Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer

• Training obtained through the completion of grade 10 education and must demonstrate an ability to perform mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
• Must possess a valid non-probationary Class "G" or higher Ontario Driver's License
• You will bring some previous work experience in building maintenance or construction, including the use of tools (e.g. concrete maintenancve, masonary, or repair work)
• Required to pass written tests set by management which correspond in content to the knowledge, theory and/or practical requirements described above
• During our training, you will be required to successfully complete the Cement Finisher apprenticeship program and obtain a Certificate of Qualification
• As the successful candidate, you will be required to attend and successfully complete a training program designated by management for the repair and maintenance of terrazzo
