Position: PROGRAM SPECIALIST (ATTIC TEEN CENTER) (AT-WILL)

Program Specialist

The City of Torrance is seeking a Program Specialist to staff our Attic Teen Center! The Community Services Department is committed to providing quality services, activities, programs, and facilities for all those who live, learn, work, and play in the City of Torrance. The mission of the Community Services Department is to enrich the community through the provision of recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities for persons of all abilities.

The Department is a diverse organization which consists of five Divisions that work collaboratively to meet the vision, mission, and goals of the department:
Administrative Services, Cultural Services, Library Services, Parks Services, and Recreation Services.

The Program Specialist reports to a Senior Program Specialist or a full-time Community Services Professional. This is the second or journey level in the Program Leader series. Depending on assignment, they provide work direction or supervision to Program Leaders and volunteers. The Program Leader Series is comprised of three classifications:
Program Leader, Program Specialist, and Senior Program Specialist. All the positions within these classifications are part-time, non-civil service/at-will and support the Community Services Department in delivering programs and events.

Hours:

Hours for the Teen Center are approximately 10-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. during the school months and 12 noon to 7pm during the summer months. This position may be required to work weekends and holidays.
