Buyer; Procurement Specialist

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS), a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, is seeking a Buyer (Procurement Specialist) in Torrance, CA. HFS holds the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems and is the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high‑tech, multi‑material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines, and are critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

The Procurement Specialist (Buyer) will manage day‑to‑day procurement activities, lead cross‑functional teams to streamline processes, and analyze market trends to identify cost‑saving opportunities.

• Locate qualified sources for materials, equipment and services to meet requester needs; identify new supply sources and monitor market trends.
• Ensure purchases represent the most favorable price consistent with quantity, quality, specifications, delivery and source reliability; analyze quotations, select suppliers, interview prospects, and supervise purchase order preparation.
• Review purchase requisitions for completeness, proper signature authority and obtain additional approvals as required.
• Obtain vendor quotations to ensure favorable quality, price and delivery terms; research new products and vendors, provide data to technical staff and assist them in purchasing decisions.
• Interface with vendors, staff and management to resolve discrepancies, answer questions and provide guidance.
• Complete purchase orders in accordance with specifications, price and policy.
• Expedite orders to ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate return of damaged goods, arrange replacements or credits and document all transactions.
• Maintain purchasing files, logs and other records.
• Process purchasing transactions through an automated purchasing system.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; verified a sponsorship is not available.
• Position involves access to export‑controlled items; acceptance is conditioned upon lawful access.

• Must work on site in Torrance, California. Remote work is not considered.
