Nativity Catholic School is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and faith-filled Part-Time Music Teacher to provide music instruction for students in Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 8. The Music Teacher is responsible for delivering an engaging music curriculum that develops students’ musical knowledge, appreciation, and performance skills. In addition to classroom instruction, the Music Teacher prepares and rehearses the student choir for weekly school Masses, monthly Community Masses, and other liturgical celebrations, while collaborating with the Religious Director and administration to select appropriate liturgical music.

The Music Teacher also plans and coordinates the annual Christmas Concert and other student performances, including a possible Spring Concert, fostering student confidence, creativity, and a love of music.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field required.
• California teaching credential preferred.
• Experience teaching music to elementary and/or middle school students preferred.
• Knowledge of vocal instruction, music theory, music appreciation, and age-appropriate instructional practices.
• Ability to accompany the choir using piano, keyboard, guitar, or another appropriate instrument.
• Familiarity with Catholic liturgy and sacred music, including traditional and contemporary liturgical repertoire.
• Experience directing school choirs and student performances preferred.
• Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the Catholic mission and values of the school.
• Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
• Successful completion of Archdiocese of Los Angeles fingerprinting, VIRTUS training, and Safe Environment requirements prior to employment.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
