The City of Torrance is recruiting for Instructor I positions to join their Cultural Services team. The Community Services Department offers Torrance residents the unique opportunity to help achieve a sense of purpose, identity, self-worth and improved self-esteem within the specialized areas of Cultural Arts, Library, Parks and Recreation. The Cultural Services Division is committed to providing quality services, activities, programs and facilities for all those who live, learn, work and play in the City of Torrance.

Currently looking for a pianist!

The following duties represent the principal job duties; however, they are not all inclusive:

• Submits classes to be offered to the Classes Supervisor or Program Coordinator and reviews class offerings for accuracy;
• Prepares lesson plans and plans, organizes, instructs, and directs classes in a specialized discipline or topic;
• Conducts demonstrations/presentations to students;
• Evaluates student level of ability to develop appropriate lesson plans and to modify instruction plan during class based on student need;
• Evaluates progress of student/class;
• Prepares course materials and instructional aids;
• Sets up audiovisual equipment for instructional purposes;
• May on occasion provide direction to assistants;
• Prepares activity and other reports.

Hours:

This is a recurrent, part-time, non-civil service, as needed position. Hours are flexible but concentrated around advertised classes. This position may be expected to work some evenings and weekends.
