, in partnership with a leading advanced mobility organization, is seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Electric Motors
. This role is responsible for developing electric motor components and sub-systems, creating detailed CAD models and drawings, and supporting prototypes through production activities. The position plays a key role in design validation, supplier collaboration, and product development within a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Design mechanical sub-systems and components for electric motor assemblies
- Create and revise detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings at the component and sub-system level
- Review engineering drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability
- Perform analytical calculations and FEA to validate design performance and structural integrity
- Develop technical documentation, including assembly instructions, specifications, and validation plans
- Design tooling and fixtures to support prototype builds and testing activities
- Partner with suppliers to conduct DFM and DFA reviews and resolve technical issues
- Support prototype builds, laboratory testing, and validation activities
- Contribute to DFMEA, PFMEA, and DVP&R documentation
- Travel as needed to support supplier reviews, build events, and issue resolution
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience supporting complex electro-mechanical systems
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling; experience with CATIA preferred
- Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Experience conducting linear and radial tolerance stack-up analyses
- Ability to perform structural hand calculations and preliminary FEA
- Experience supporting DFM, DFA, DFMEA, PFMEA, and DVP&R processes
- Hands-on experience supporting prototype validation and lab-based testing
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials selection
- Experience developing prototype tooling and assembly fixtures
- Experience supporting supplier technical reviews and acceptance criteria validation
- Experience leading structured root cause analysis investigations
