Job Description & How to Apply Below
Inno Forge is partnering with a fast‑paced aerospace startup in El Segundo that is rapidly approaching a critical flight demonstration window. We are looking for a highly analytical Mechanical Engineer to bridge the gap between CAD design, structural simulation, and physical validation.
You will play a central role in evolving their core technology from a late‑stage prototype into flight‑ready hardware. This is a hands‑on role for an engineer who excels at weight reduction, increasing prototype stiffness, and predicting structural behavior under the harsh loads of launch and orbit.
Key Responsibilities 1. Design Evolution & Optimization- Lead the refinement of prototype mechanisms, moving designs from R&D concepts to manufacturing‑ready 2D/3D drawing packages.
- Execute aggressive mass optimization campaigns (light weighting) while simultaneously increasing system stiffness and rigidity.
- Manage Design for Manufacturing (DFM) efforts, specifically focusing on complex tolerancing and surface treatment/plating compatibility.
- Work with vendors to source components and manage the hardware lifecycle.
- Define and analyze structural load cases across the full mission profile: ground handling, ascent/launch, separation, and on‑orbit operations.
- Develop high‑fidelity analytical models to determine load paths and margins of safety per major industry standards.
- Perform comprehensive vibration analysis (random, sine, shock, and vibroacoustic) to minimize system noise and ensure structural integrity.
- Design structural adjustments and fixtures to support environmental testing in T‑Vac, Zero‑G, and air‑bearing configurations.
- Correlate simulation models with physical test data to drive iterative design improvements.
- Collaborate with GNC, Propulsion, and Thermal teams to ensure all subsystem loads are compatible.
- Education: B.S. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder (ITAR compliance is mandatory). Ability to obtain a Security Clearance is required.
- Core Competencies: Deep understanding of space vehicle structural loads, stress analysis, and interface loads.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD/CAE packages is essential. Preferred tools include: NASTRAN, FEMAP, ANSYS, NX/Simcenter 3D, Solidworks, or similar (e.g., Thermal Desktop, Amesim).
- Equity Package: Significant ownership potential in a venture‑backed company.
- Performance‑based bonus structure.
- Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
- Generous PTO and Holiday schedule.
- Perks:
Health/Wellness stipend and Commuter benefits.
