Industrial Electrical Engineer / Senior Industrial Electrical Engineer

Divergent is a technology company that has architected, invented, built, and commercialized an end‑to‑end factory system called the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS) that comprehensively uses machine learning to optimally engineer, additively manufacture, and flexibly assemble complex integrated vehicle structures and subsystems. Products created using DAPS are superior in performance, lower in cost, rapidly customizable to meet mission and customer‑specific requirements, faster to market, and scalable on demand to high volume production.

Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs, and is now expanding to support mission critical needs in the Aerospace and Defense sector.

Purpose

We are looking for an Industrial Electrical Engineer to join the Automation Team to design and develop custom factory equipment across Additive Manufacturing and Automation applications, propelling our team into the next generation of the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS).

The Role
  • Ownership of industrial electrical systems engineering, from conceptual system architecture through final schematics, drawings and build of complete electrical systems.
  • Actively collaborate with mechanical, controls, software, manufacturing, and process engineers to co‑develop novel manufacturing equipment, including metal 3D printing systems, powder handling systems, manufacturing systems, and automatic robotic assembly, material removal & coating lines.
  • Drive electrical engineering standards and best practices across the full suite of DAPS platform manufacturing modules.
  • Drive in sourcing vs. outsourcing decisions for your designs, partnering with key vendors and internal development operations teams, respectively.
Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 5 years of relevant industry experience or 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with EPlan, AutoCAD or other CAD systems.
  • A strong understanding of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 79 & UL508A.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree, or above, in Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of electrical certification for industrial systems in the US & Europe (UL/NFPA & ISO/IEC standards).
  • Strong knowledge of EPlan Electric P8 and/or Pro Panel, with experience maintaining and developing parts libraries and macros for rapid reuse and schematic development.
  • Designing for extensive product life cycles, such as a decade or more.
  • Experience designing harness assemblies in 3D CAD software, such as NX, EPlan Harness, Solid Works etc.
  • Experience with common industrial PLC, HMI & Motion Control systems.
  • In‑office, working closely with automation and AM development teams.
Compensation

At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels E04 – E05 as evaluated through our interview process.

  • Senior / E05: $122,400 – $168,300

Pay Range: $106,000 – $168,300 USD
