Position Summary

The Capital Projects Planner is responsible for planning, organizing, and tracking project work to ensure it is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project goals. This role works closely with engineering, construction, operations, and contractors to support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities Safety
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies and ensure others do the same.
  • Promote safe work practices and engage workers on safety performance.
  • Complete safety observations at least once per quarter.
  • Provide input to the project Safety Plan.
Engineering Support
  • Participate in constructability reviews and provide feedback.
  • Develop high-level project schedules during early project phases.
  • Review construction packages and provide comments as needed.
Planning & Estimating
  • Review construction packages to fully understand the project scope.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs to estimate labor hours and materials.
  • Develop detailed execution schedules and workforce plans.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to contractors.
  • Review contractor bids and assist in contractor selection.
  • Prepare Material Take Offs (MTOs) and coordinate material ordering.
  • Submit requisitions for contractor services.
Coordination & Collaboration
  • Coordinate with operations to minimize impact during project execution.
  • Work with business teams to ensure equipment readiness.
  • Create work orders as needed to schedule maintenance resources.
Project Execution & Monitoring
  • Lead construction kick-off meetings and ongoing execution meetings.
  • Coordinate scheduling of labor, equipment, and vendors.
  • Conduct job walks to monitor progress and address issues.
  • Track and report on project schedule and cost performance.
  • Coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) and field change orders (FCOs).
  • Support the Project Manager with lessons learned and project closeout activities.
