Role Summary

As Moog expands the volume of components sourced through our external Supply Chain, we are strengthening our Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure suppliers can deliver high-quality parts at customer demand rates. Our Manufacturing Engineers play a critical role throughout the product lifecycle—from early design influence and supplier selection to process development, capability analysis, and ongoing risk mitigation. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to establish stable, capable, and compliant manufacturing processes as parts transition from internal production to our global supply base.

Responsibilities
  • Support the manufacturing of complex machining, gear, and motor components within the supplier network.
  • Conduct part risk assessments and drive mitigation plans with suppliers.
  • Review and validate manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to understand and communicate design intent.
  • Recommend tooling, processes, and inspection methods to improve supplier performance.
  • Assess supplier manufacturing capabilities and provide technical support to resolve issues.
  • Review manufacturing specifications and provide guidance to ensure proper application.
  • Identify manufacturability concerns on new designs and drive databased feedback to design engineering.
  • Recommend product or process improvements to reduce risk and defect potential.
  • Lead and participate in DFX/DFMA activities for new products.
  • Review and approve PPAP submissions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Create and support PFMEA activities with suppliers.
  • Conduct Gage R&R and MSA evaluations with Moog and supplier teams.
  • Analyze process capability data and drive improvement where needed.
  • Support Moog's Zero-Defect journey using AS9145 methodologies.
  • Travel up to 35%.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline with 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience or 7+ years of equivalent hands-on experience for non-degreed candidates.
  • Strong working knowledge of turning, milling, OD/, surface grinding, and jig grinding processes.
  • Experience machining aerospace materials including carbon steels, stainless steels, carburizing and nitriding steels, and aluminum alloys.
  • Solid understanding of heat treatment, plating, non-destructive testing (NDT), and aerospace painting processes.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling best practices and principles.
  • Advanced ability to interpret and create engineering drawings, including expert-level application of GD&T.
  • Hands-on experience with inspection methods, tools, and best practices to ensure conformance and quality.
  • Proven experience using root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.) to drive corrective actions and improve yield on low-performing or non-conforming processes.

Preferred

  • Experience with NX & Teamcenter.
  • Previous experience with creating manufacturing processes for aerospace components with gears and/or splines.
  • Knowledge of gears/splines manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of gears/splines inspection methods and tools.
  • Experience with CMM (Zeiss) inspection methods and reports.
  • Previous experience in the aerospace manufacturing industry and familiarity with AS9100 requirements.
