The JR286 Product Engineer (for candidates who hold an engineering degree) is responsible for providing the innovation and execution of world-class concepts through research, ideation, prototype, and development processes. In this role, you will communicate across cross-functional partners to ensure the successful launch of JR286’s accessories products.

What You'll Do
  • Full ownership of project management, timing, quality, and cost for assigned products from product brief through production.
  • Lead weekly team meetings documenting updates, driving to milestones and tracking action items.
  • Partner with Design to create detailed tech packs specifying the styling, dimensions, material and trim to align with brief requirements, manufacturability, lead‑times and minimum order quantities.
  • Partner with sourcing to meet/exceed margin and capacity expectations through strategic sourcing, material sourcing, and design for manufacturing.
  • Maintain close relationships and daily contact with vendor contacts and international team members.
  • Work with various materials and vendors to develop new colors, graphics, textures and materials.
  • Prototype with various vendors to develop processes and tooling that will yield target timing, quality, cost.
  • Conduct product wear testing and competitive analysis to ensure JR286 continues to offer best in class materials, construction, fit and performance.
  • Complete and maintain all documentation and system data for all assigned styles.
  • Own the on‑time delivery and quality of prototypes, samples and production quantities.
  • Special projects as assigned.
What to Bring
  • College degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering/Textile Design/Development or related experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with teammates to overcome adversity, hit metrics, and achieve goals
  • Passion for sports, sporting goods, equipment, streetwear, and fashion
  • High technical aptitude, with education and/or experience in engineering or textile development
  • Must be coachable: ability to listen to feedback, adapt, and continuously improve
  • Ability for domestic and overseas travel as project status requires (2‑4 overseas trips annually is typical).
Nice to Have
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing technologies: textile, injection molding, automation
  • Experience with performance, compliance, and use case testing of sporting goods and equipment.
  • PMP, Lean or Six Sigma Certification and history of successful application
  • Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions to improve performance, manufacturing, cost.
  • Ability to anticipate and troubleshoot issues of consequence to quality and delivery with ease.
  • Proactive, and result driven, ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong communication, sound problem solving skills, organized and detail oriented.
  • Self‑starter, team player, strong follow up skills, with a sense of urgency and deadline oriented.
