The Turbo machinery and Heat Exchanger Analysis group within the AAMD (Additive Analysis Mechanical and Design) directorate is responsible for the development and analysis of Environmental Control System (ECS) turbo machinery and heat exchangers, as well as electric traction drive motors. The successful applicant will be responsible for stress, vibration, and heat transfer analyses. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs.
You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to ensure compliance with customer and program requirements. Other responsibilities include communicating with Project engineering teams, conduction of design reviews, presentations to internal and external customers and contributing to department process improvement initiatives.
- Perform stress analysis using complex finite element & classical book calculation methods, & support testing
- Perform heat transfer analysis in practice and theory (analytical correlations and complex finite element methods) and related topics in thermodynamics, single and multi-phase flows, and energy systems
- Provide technical oversight to global engineering teams across time zones
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
- Minimum of 4 years of experience performing thermal & stress analysis on turbo machinery, gas turbine engines, motors and/or other similar components and systems
- Proficiency in linear static, nonlinear/elasto-plastic, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, harmonic, random vibration, & crack growth analyses
- Proficiency in all modes of heat transfer, thermodynamics, thermal sciences, and two-phase thermophysics
- Strong working knowledge of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods
- Turbo machinery background
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field with emphasis in heat transfer or thermal sciences & stress analysis
- Team Player

- Significant experience with new product development in a highly regulated environment
- Ability to analyze and solve complex and challenging problems
- Effectively operate in a matrix organization
- Track record of successful contribution to products & projects
- Keen mindset to envision process improvements and execution of such initiatives

The annual base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $144,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
