Overview
Moog Military Aircraft is a global leader in designing primary and secondary flight control actuation systems (FCAS) for military aircraft. We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Torrance, CA team. This role reports to the Assembly & Test Quality Manager and offers a 9/80 schedule option. The engineer will plan, implement, and administer cost‑effective quality programs to ensure contractual quality requirements are met or exceeded.
Responsibilities- Act as the Moog liaison and representative to support government (FAA and DCMA) initiatives, audits, and requirements.
- Participate in program teams to meet contractual requirements and drive crucial quality‑related decisions for customers such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Airbus, and Sikorsky.
- Support production by conducting quality engineering studies, recommending design changes, and providing quality support to manufacturing and assembly personnel.
- Perform failure analysis, root‑cause and corrective action analysis, risk mitigation, material review, customer and governmental interface, audit support, configuration control, traceability, and audit support.
- Develop quality plans for receiving inspection, manufacturing operations, assembly & test processes, and final inspection.
- Optimize inspection costs and prevent failure‑related costs through statistical analysis and problem solving.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- 3+ years of professional experience in Engineering or Manufacturing.
- 2+ years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing.
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience in the aerospace industry (preferred).
- Experience with AS9100 standards.
- Proficiency with statistical, spreadsheet, word processing, and database software packages.
- Experience supporting government and customer audits.
- Specialized technical knowledge of mechanical, electro‑mechanical, hydro‑mechanical components, manufacturing assembly, and functional test methods.
- Ability to support quality‑related issues to drive program success and convey confidence to customers during frequent interactions.
- ASQ certification is a plus.
